In 2007, Matthew made his Broadway debut with The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein. He covered the title role, and, during previews in NY, stepped into the part for over a week to cover an ailing leading actor, performing the role to acclaim. He stayed with the show for it's entire run at the Hilton Theatre in New York, and performed the lead role of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein over 30 times. Matt most recently appeared on Broadway in the 2009 production of Irving Berlin's White Christmas (as Jimmy and Scooter). He also performed in the 2005 concert Children and Art, a celebration of Stephen Sondhem's 75th birthday, at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Matt's Broadway touring credits include leading roles in productions of Crazy for You, Anything Goes, and The King and I. Matthew also toured the United States with the company of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and can be heard singing a solo track on the 2005-2006 touring cast album. Other recordings include Broadway composer Billy Solly’s Greatest Hits V, and On The Transmigration of Souls (2004 Grammy Award for Classical Album). Off Broadway: A Tale of Two Cities (Lamb’s Club Theatre), Angel on My Shoulder (York Theatre Co.), and Oliver's Idea (York Theatre Co.). Regional theatre: Backwards in High Heels (Asolo Rep), The First Wives Club (world premiere at The Old Globe Theatre), Miss Saigon (Westchester Broadway Theatre), On Your Toes (Cape Playhouse), Hot Mikado (Fulton Opera House). Additional companies: Theatre Under the Stars (Houston, TX), West Virginia Public Theatre, Gateway Playhouse, Trinity Repertory Company, Emelin Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse (where he danced alongside Broadway legend Chita Rivera), and the Connecticut Repertory Theatre (8 productions). Some of Matt’s favorite roles include: Sparky in Forever Plaid, Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz, Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar, and Don Lockwood in Singin’ in the Rain. As a classical singer, Matthew has performed with both the New York Choral Artists and the New York Virtuoso Singers, the choral groups who sing regularly with the New York Philharmonic and the American Symphony Orchestra. He has performed on several stages at Lincoln Center, as well as at Carnegie Hall, under the batons of Loren Maazel, Daniel Barenboim, Kurt Masur, and James Levine. For three seasons, Matthew was also on the roster for the extras chorus at the Metropolitan Opera House, singing in the Met’s productions of Moses Und Aron, Parsifal, and Die Meistersinger. Matt is a member of AEA, AGMA, and AFTRA. He received dual degrees in Voice and Music Education from The University of Connecticut in 1998.
